Let’s face it. A lot of us today are living at a breakneck pace, going from one event to the next, frantically trying to fit it all into a jam-packed week. Commitment to one thing means saying no to something else, so we simply don’t commit at all and go to whatever seems the most appealing at that moment. We place value on being impulsive, assigning “busy” a status symbol of importance.
However, it only takes missing one game or one meeting and being easily replaced by someone else who was present to realize we might not be that important after all.
When Presence Is the Gift

Tom never missed a Tuesday. Rain, snow, or holiday—he showed up with groceries for Miss Ellie, the widow next door. It wasn’t the food she loved most. It was his smile, the stories, and the reminder she wasn’t forgotten.
In a world where people rush past one another, Tom chose to slow down. He understood something many of us forget: presence is powerful. We think we need to fix problems, offer advice, or bring grand solutions. But most of the time, people just need to know they aren’t alone. They need to know they have value and matter to someone.
Little Acts, Lasting Impact
Love isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s quiet, faithful, and unnoticed by the crowds. But those are the kinds of actions that often matter most. Living out value means being faithful in the little things.
Maybe it’s that weekly phone call to a friend, that check-in with a church member who hasn’t been around, or making time to sit with your kids even when you’re tired. These moments add up. When you choose to be present, you’re saying, “You matter.” And that kind of love has ripple effects far beyond what we see.
Bible Truth for Living Out Value

“Let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18 (ESV)
John doesn’t say love with the right words or the best intentions. He says love with action. And that action starts with showing up.
L.O.V.E. Takeaway
Who in your life needs you to show up today? Maybe it’s your neighbor, your spouse, or your teen who says everything’s fine but clearly isn’t. Don’t underestimate the value of your presence. God uses those moments to whisper, “I see you.” And through you, others can see Him.
