Summer comes with its own rhythm—longer days, warmer nights, a loosened schedule. It invites us to pause, breathe, and reset. And yet, if we’re honest, many of us carry our busy habits straight into the slower months. That’s why finding God in the stillness isn’t automatic. It’s intentional.
Stillness feels foreign in a culture that values hustle. But as followers of Christ, we’re invited into sacred pauses, times to reset our minds, realign our hearts, and deepen our trust. FAITH, Fully Aligned In Trusting Him, isn’t just about big leaps of obedience; it’s also about quietly anchoring ourselves in God’s presence when nothing urgent demands our attention.
A Morning That Changed Everything
I remember a family vacation to the mountains one summer. Our cabin sat near a lake, and one morning, I woke before everyone else. The sky was just beginning to lighten. I made coffee, grabbed my Bible, and stepped out onto the porch. No music, no phone, just stillness.
At first, I felt restless. Should I scroll? Should I be doing something “productive”? But as the minutes passed, I felt God’s peace settle over me like the morning fog across the water. I began to pray, not with urgency, but with quiet awareness. I read Psalm 131, where David says:
“I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother.”
That morning became a marker in my soul. I wasn’t in a crisis or asking for answers. I was simply resting in God. Finding God in the stillness taught me that His presence doesn’t need to shout to be powerful.
Now I use a journal every morning, even when life is full. It’s a tool that guides me to pause, reflect, and realign with God’s heart before I do anything else.
Finding God in the Stillness Restores Our Souls
God repeatedly invites His people to stop, to rest, and to listen. Not just for their benefit—but because it’s in the stillness that He speaks.
Psalm 46:10 is one of the most well-known verses on this subject:
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Stillness isn’t inactivity. It’s a posture of the soul. When we stop striving and start listening, we create space to know God more deeply. In those moments—on a morning walk, during quiet journaling, or while watching a summer sunset—the Spirit ministers to our hearts.
And the benefits are tangible:
- We gain clarity instead of confusion
- We trade anxiety for peace
- We stop chasing what God is asking us to receive
Truth doesn’t require volume. Just space.
Creating Your Own Sacred Summer Space

You don’t have to be on vacation to experience stillness. You can find it right where you are. Here are some practical ways to create sacred space this summer:
- Schedule a weekly “Sabbath hour” – One hour where you unplug, sit in silence, read Scripture, and let God speak.
- Use your mornings well – The early light of summer can be a spiritual cue to start your day with stillness.
- Incorporate tactile tools – Light a candle, use a guided prayer journal, or keep a verse magnet on your fridge or desk.
- Take a quiet walk – No music, no agenda. Just walk and let God speak through creation.
- Practice breath prayers – Inhale a promise, exhale a worry.
Stillness isn’t weakness. It’s worship.
Be Still and Know
Summer stillness is more than rest—it’s an invitation to reset our alignment. When we slow down and tune in, we experience what it means to live Fully Aligned In Trusting Him. We discover God isn’t just found in the loud or the busy. He’s often clearest in the quiet.
So whether you’re headed on vacation or staying home this season, create space for sacred stillness. Let the warm days remind you that God is close. Let each quiet moment be a holy appointment.
