From Me-Focused to Mission-Minded

When we think of freedom, we often picture personal release. Freedom from sin, guilt, shame, or even pressure from others. But Biblical liberty doesn’t stop there. It moves from freedom to self toward freedom to love others.
The truth is, freedom to serve others is one of the clearest signs that God’s Word has taken root in your heart. When you embrace LIBERTY—Living in Biblical Evidence Revealed To You—it begins to change how you treat your spouse, your neighbor, the stranger at the gas station, and even the person who disagrees with you.
Another way of looking at liberty is Living Inspired By Every Righteous Truth, Yielded. Liberty is freedom from bondage, freedom from chains, and freedom from the lies that hold you back. With that righteous truth, though, comes a responsibility to yield to and obey the truth. And even though society will change the “truth” constantly to suit their agenda or pleasures, God’s truths never change.
He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Christ didn’t set us free so we could coast through life in comfort. He freed us to live out love boldly, generously, and without fear.
A Neighbor’s Need Changed Everything
Years ago, a house on our street caught fire in the middle of the night. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but their entire home was lost. We barely knew the family. A wave, a polite smile now and then. That was it.
But something stirred in us. The Spirit wouldn’t let us ignore their pain.
The next day, we dropped off groceries. Then came casseroles, donated clothes, an air mattress, and eventually, evenings spent watching their children so the parents could meet with insurance reps. At first, they were shocked by our kindness. But over time, they softened, and we formed a genuine friendship.
They thanked us with tears in their eyes. What they didn’t know was that we were the ones changed most of all. Loving them without needing anything in return was freeing. That summer taught us how love isn’t something to hoard. It’s something to give.
Freedom to Love Others Comes from Knowing You’re Loved

Galatians 5:13 reminds us:
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to serve the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”
Our freedom in Christ gives us the power to love without strings attached. No need to prove our worth. No need to earn approval. Just simple, Spirit-led, selfless love.

Love Is Liberty on Display
When we live with a me-first mindset, we’re missing the point of our freedom. But when we love others freely, especially when it’s inconvenient, uncomfortable, or unnoticed, we show the world what Jesus is like.
The freedom to love others is one of the greatest gifts we have in Christ. It’s not always easy, but it is always worth it. Love boldly. Serve humbly. Let liberty become love.
