trusting God with the unknown - Corrie ten Boom

We all come to crossroads, moments when the future looks like a foggy path, the answers don’t come easily, and control slips through our fingers. In these places, we’re invited to lean into trusting God with the unknown. That’s where the FAITH model comes alive—Fully Aligned In Trusting Him doesn’t mean we have all the answers. It means we know who does.

It’s easy to trust God when the plan is clear, the provisions are abundant, and the outcomes are predictable. But true, transformational faith is forged when we have no idea what’s next and still choose to follow Him anyway.

When the Map Disappears

A few years ago, I had what looked like a dream opportunity: a promotion at work, a better salary, and a move to a bigger city. On paper, it was everything I thought I wanted. But as the decision loomed, I felt unsettled. I couldn’t sleep, couldn’t find peace, and couldn’t understand why something so “right” felt so wrong.

One night, after praying through tears, I sensed God whispering, “Do you trust Me even when the road doesn’t make sense?” It wasn’t an audible voice, but one felt much deeper. An impression on my soul. I turned down the offer.

What followed wasn’t instant clarity. In fact, the next six months felt even more uncertain. But slowly, God began opening doors I hadn’t considered, ones that aligned with not just my career, but my calling. Relationships deepened, ministry opportunities opened up, and I discovered passions I had ignored in pursuit of success. That season, though scary, taught me the joy of trusting God with the unknown.

Today, I journal regularly, which helps me record those divine nudges and open doors. Looking back, I can see how God’s hand was guiding all along, even when I couldn’t see it in real time.

Trusting God with the Unknown Requires Alignment, Not Control

Scripture gives us a powerful reminder in Proverbs 3:5–6:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

This kind of trust isn’t passive. It’s active surrender. It’s choosing to let go of our need to predict, plan, and perfect—and instead, align our hearts Fully in Trusting Him.

That’s why the FAITH acronym isn’t just a catchy phrase. It’s a way of living. When we’re Fully Aligned, we stop striving for clarity and start seeking Christ. We trust that even in confusion, God is working things out for good (Romans 8:28).

Practical Faith in Unpredictable Seasons

Trusting God in the unknown also requires rhythms that anchor us. For me, that looked like setting aside ten minutes every morning for silence and Scripture. It wasn’t always easy, especially when worry felt louder than the Word, but consistency became the key.

I also learned to invite others into my unknown. God often speaks through wise counsel, and faithful friends can help us discern His direction. In community, I found courage. And in worship, I found peace that made no earthly sense.

You may not know what’s next, but you know the One who goes before you. That is your security.

Get Aligned

Uncertainty will always be part of life. But it doesn’t have to shake your soul. The next time you stand at a crossroads, ask yourself: Am I Fully Aligned In Trusting Him? Am I willing to walk by faith even when the map disappears?

Let God’s presence be your compass. Surround yourself with truth. Speak His promises out loud. Keep your heart steady when the ground feels unstable.

Because trusting God with the unknown isn’t about the answers—it’s about the alignment.
